CNN Insights on women's empowerment and leadership by CNN Greece and the ACCI

Women's empowerment and the role of women in leadership were the main topics discussed at the third event of CNN Insights, which took place on Wednesday, March 6, at the “Constantinos Michalos” Entrepreneurship Centre, co-organized by CNN Greece and the Athens Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ACCI).

The opening speech was delivered by the President of ACCI, Mrs. Sophia Kounenaki-Efraimoglou, who emphasised that the liberation of the potentials of women's leadership is a prerequisite for competitiveness and resilience in businesses, economy, and society. The Minister of Labour and Social Security, Mrs. Domna Michailidou, served as the keynote speaker and focused on the question: "What exactly do women want" and why does International Women's Empowerment Day continue to exist.

The President of the Federation of Industries of Greece (SBE), Mrs. Loukia Saranti, emphasised that the low presence of women in the industry sector is not due to lack of skills but to structural issues. Subsequently, senior executives from various sectors discussed the current situation regarding women's entrepreneurship and leadership. Participating in the discussion were Mrs. Maria-Eleni Arampatzi, VP Human Resources at AB Vassilopoulos, Sofia Dimtsa, Director of Corporate Relations and Communications at PPC, Elena Athousaki, Chief Sustainability Officer of Motor Oil Group, and Anthi Trokoudi, Chief Communications & Sustainability Officer at Hellenic Corporation of Assets and Participations S.A. (HCAP/ Growthfund). Finally, the Deputy Governor of the Bank of Greece and Member of the Supervisory Board of the European Central Bank, Mrs. Christina Papakonstantinou, spoke about the role occupied and the challenges faced by women in the financial sector, emphasising the importance of their continuous proof of worth.
